Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati announced the center has an urgent need for type O donors. Individuals with the blood type O positive or O negative are being asked to donate immediately. Hoxworth needs to recruit an additional 800 type O donors to recover from its current shortage.
“The need for donors is the result of a decrease in donations and an increased need from patients at the 31 hospitals that we serve,” said Dr. Ronald Sacher, director of Hoxworth Blood Center in a statement. “As the stewards of the local blood supply, it is our responsibility to alert the public and request help in times of need.”
Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Centers include Anderson, Blue Ash, Downtown, Fort Mitchell, Mason, Tri-County, Western Hills and the Hoxworth Center adjacent to University Hospital.
